The following rules will be strictly enforced to protect the event and all parties involved in the execution and production of the event.
YOUR REGISTRATION IS YOURS AND YOURS ALONE - You may not transfer or defer your race entry to another person or another year. Anyone starting/racing under someone else's event number will be disqualified and banned from the event for a period of at least 5 years or up to a lifetime ban.
REFUND, TRANSFER, DEFERRAL POLICY - There are no refunds, transfers, or deferrals of any kind for ANY reason through the event itself. Third party insurance may be purchased. Details about registration insurance can be found on the REGISTRATION page.
Packet pickup Rules

A helmet must be worn at all times while riding your bike. This means before, during, and after the event. ALL HELMETS MUST BE INSPECTED AND STICKERED BY CEN (EUROPEAN) OR US-CPSC (US).
Chin straps must be buckled at all time when on a bicycle. DO NOT unbuckle your chin strap unless you are completely off your bike.
Penalty: Disqualification on the course or variable time penalty in Transition Area(s).
No assistance other that that offered by the event and medical officials may be used (pacing, clothing, hydration, nutrition, etc.). Triathlons are individual tests of fitness
Registered support team members may assist the athlete when it is permitted to do so during the race when it is safe. Support team members MAY NOT provide assistance if other athletes may be impacted.
Penalty: Variable time penalty.
All equipment must be placed in the properly designated and individually assigned bike corral. The wheel of the bicycle must be down on the side of the assigned space. All participants must return their bicycles to an upright position in their designated bicycle corral.
No person shall interfere with another participant’s equipment or impede the progress of another participant.
All bar ends must be solidly plugged.
No glass containers of ANY kind are allowed in the Transition Areas.
Penalty: Variable time penalty.
All riders must keep at least three bike lengths of clear space between you and the cyclist in front. If you move into the zone, you must pass within 15 seconds. Position--keep to the right hand side of the lane of travel unless passing. Blocking--riding on the left side of the lane without passing anyone and interfering with other cyclists attempting to pass. Overtaken--once passed, you must immediately exit the draft zone from the rear, before attempting to pass again.
Penalty: Variable time penalty.
All competitors are required to follow the prescribed course and to stay within all lanes. Cutting the course is an obvious violation and going outside the course is a safety issue.
Cyclists and runners should ALWAYS ride/run as close to the shoulder when possible staying as far away from the open vehicle lane(s) when possible.
Cyclist and runners MUST obey all applicable traffic laws at all times, this meaning stopping and yielding at intersections. This race has no police presence and the roads are no closed.
Penalty: Official’s discretion.
Foul, harsh, argumentative, or abusive language or other unsportsmanlike conduct directed at event officials, race crew, volunteers, spectators, or fellow athletes is forbidden.
Headphone, headsets, walkmans, iPods, mp3 players, personal audio devices, etc. are not to be carried or worn at any time during the event.
EVENT RACE NUMBERS:
All athletes are required to wear event bib numbers at all times during the bike and run. On the bike the numbers should be facing to the back and on the run the numbers should be facing towards the front.
Numbers may not be cut or folded or altered in any way.
DO NOT transfer your number to any other athlete or take a number from an athlete that is not competing.
Penalty: Variable time penalty for missing or altered number. Disqualification and 5 year ban from the event for transferring a number without event director permission.
All personal equipment and belongings taken out onto the course must stay on the athlete the entire time. No garbage, clothing, etc. shall be thrown on the course.
All athletes and support are required to carry certain items throughout the event. Please see our MANDATORY GEAR page for more details.
CELL PHONE & COMMUNICATION:
Athletes must have a cell phone on them during the bike and run at all times to communicate with their support crew or the event crew if needed in an emergency situation. We recommend a small external battery and USB cable to charge it on the fly. This can be carried by your support crew until needed and weighs very little and is hardly noticeable if you carry one of the small cheap ones.
No outside pacing is allowed on the swim or bike.
On the run a support runner is required for the entire run.
Penalty: Disqualification if a non-registered support team member is pacing/supporting.
Support teams are limited to only one support vehicle. If you have more than one support team member they must all travel in your designated support team vehicle if they wish to offer support.
Support vehicles may not follow behind their athlete. All vehicles must be stopped and outside the white line on the side of the road with car turned off and outside of that car to offer support to their athlete.
Support members may not stand in the road to offer support, they may only do so from the side of the road the rider is on and from beyond the white line off the road.
Support is not allowed to hand anything to their athlete as they pass them on the road as they leap frog to the next pullout/support location.
Support is not permitted to park/stop on the side of the road opposite the direction the course/rider is heading.
Support vehicles may not block the path of other vehicles or the riders and must always go the speed limit. Do not hold up traffic or drive unsafely.
No athlete is allowed to change their bike or wheels unless they are badly damaged and unusable.
If an athlete withdraws from the event at any point before or during the event, a support crew member is required to inform the event crew by texting the race crew (a phone number will be provided before the event). The event crew phone is manned from the pre-event meeting onwards. Please make sure to include the athlete's name and event number along with the withdraw notification.
Penalty: Banned from event for 5 years.
Medical / Anti-DOping policy
Medical crew and event marshals appointed by the organizers may at any time during the event remove an athlete from the event in cases of health issues or risk of injury to the athlete.
The use of prohibited methods and substances included in the WADA List of Prohibited Substances and Methods is forbidden. Athletes may be subject to random testing by the event organizers.
